I'm on a tight budget, how do I afford to write and self publish

If you have the inclination to share your thoughts (hopefully enriching to people) in writing, the financial barrier to getting your word out there is very small.

I self-published my latest book through Lulu.com, and it is literally free to do so there. They also review and list it in their online bookstore if it is approved. Again, no cost. You can go on their website and verify that for yourself.

I paid a one-time $5 to submit it through them for wider distribution, like on Amazon and elsewhere, which was just approved and appears there now for free, though the royalties are less for me if purchased there.

I am charging 7.99 for the paperback. I bought 5 copies at my cost as the author at $3.50 apiece (printing cost) and paid the shipping. Total of  $20.

I handed out 3 copies to some good long-time friends who enjoy my content and kept 1 copy for myself.

Anyone else with an interest can buy it. I think it is a well-written and interesting read that people might enjoy.

As for the website and blog that I maintain. I do it mainly through Google's free creation and hosting tools. Namely Google Sites and Blogger. Free to use, create, and host. You can even easily integrate Google's free Google Analytics tool to see if people are actually visiting your sites and what they're reading. It doesn't reveal any personal information about visitors, though. (Fortunately)

I paid a third-party domain registrar $12 for my personalized web address, climbthehillmedia.com

That is a one-time yearly charge to do so.

If you're on a tight budget but want to share with the public or even self-publish, you can verify these cost numbers yourself through the links provided in this post.

Best wishes.
