Bookstore/Coffee shop

It is a beautiful, sunny day out today, and I felt that I just needed to get out of my tiny apartment for a while.

I decided to grab my laptop and make my way to the local bookstore/coffee shop for an iced coffee and to do some writing.

After I drink my coffee and get my writing done, I will have a look around the bookstore to see if anything interests me.

There are so many books in this world!

I have to admit that most of them don't interest me, but the sheer volume and variety of them is impressive to me.

I generally have a short attention span and have always had a hard time finishing full-sized books, no matter what genre.

That is why I like to create micro-media here.

Short blog posts and short books that a person can get through quickly.

Here's to a beautiful day.

Have a great one!

Sunday... a day of rest

At noon today I realized that Sunday is meant to be a day of rest for us from our toils and troubles.

And so, I spent the day napping and letting go of all my toils.

It is very important to honor God's command that we have this day as a day of rest.

It helps bring sanity and sobriety to the feverous pace that we typically live in during the week.

Six days of work and one day of rest.

That is the formula set out for us by Our Lord.

Tomorrow is Monday. I pray that I can resume my work as a servant of Jesus Christ.

I pray for His blessings. I pray for his grace.

God have mercy on my soul.

I will never achieve anything worthwhile without your guidance and grace.

May his people know the peace that is beyond understanding and the reconciliation that our lives as sinners deserve.

Mental illness, physical illness, daily toils and troubles.

They are common to all believers and demand that we look to Him for our salvation.

God help the poorest of the poor.

Combat our vices and transform our lives into ones of sanctity and honor.

Have a great night and a new, refreshed day tomorrow.

Noon time break

Well, I was able to write a few more pages of my next book.

It is a personal account of the summer I spent in the seminary as a young man, which ended with my descent into madness.

I am just sitting here, having eaten lunch just now.

I am praying that God does not let me waste the rest of the day on nonsense.

I am going to listen to today's Cleveland Guardians baseball game later, though.

I keep it on in the background while I try to do some more work.

Oh God help me to work and build in your name... a morning prayer

Oh God, help me fill the time of this day with fruitfulness and abundance.

Let me work diligently with Your Grace to provide for myself and others.

I have seen the emptiness before and know what a wasteland it is for my soul.

I need to work, I need to earn, and I need to put myself to good use that honors my name as a Christian.

I am reminded of the quote from scripture: "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain"

~ Psalm 127:1.

The verse is a "Song of Ascents" traditionally attributed to King Solomon. It serves as a

reminder that all human effort, whether constructing physical structures, building a family,

or striving for personal success, is ultimately futile without God's foundation and blessing

The God of peace and understanding

God is not only that of peace. He is also an understanding God who knows whatever situation you might be in right now.

He sees and hears and understands us.

In Christ, He came to dwell amongst us and to suffer with us so that we would know that He is not only the Prince of Peace, but also the God of understanding.

May you find that peace and understanding as you reach out to him in whatever predicament you may find yourself. Mental, physical, or spiritual.

Let Him guide you as only He can.

He truly is a loving God.

A new day... refreshed

And so we begin again.

I am refreshed after a good night's sleep.

The freedom to write a new page on this blank canvas.

I pray for God's blessings upon this day.

We are all in God's hands

I can only hope that God is gentle and forebearing when handling us.

I am a poor man.

The rest of my family is rich.

I don't envy them. I just acknowledged the economic disparity.

I don't expect anything from them.

We were all raised in the same family.

This is the path that God has chosen for me.

I live on SSDI disability payments and just get by on that.

My siblings are rich.

May God be merciful.

As long as He keeps me in the bosom of His Sacred Heart, I will never be wanting.

I am grateful for what He has given me..

I chose a life of poverty a long time ago.

Perhaps foolishly.

But sincerely.

I am at Your mercy Lord.

Here in my daily prayer.
